Is Coffee Creamer Healthy?

Lets face it, black coffee can be roasted to highlight notes of vanilla, chocolate, nuts, and even citrus, but sometimes you want to dress up that coffee with creamer to sweeten up your cup with something more indulgent. But, are they good for you?

Short answer? Everything in Moderation! When we do reach for creamer, we opt for plant based creamers that are notably low in sugar and made with organic ingredients. Here are our suggestions for what to look out for, along with our favorite dairy free creamer to make sure your cup of NOCK tastes good and does your body good;

  • Look out for Artificial Sweeteners

Many studies have found that Artificial sweeteners can lead to long term weight gain. There are so many options that work perfectly as a substitute including plant based milks like coconut or oat milk.

  • Look out for artificial ingredients- Shop Organic!

Many creamers have labels packed with unfamiliar and “alien” sounding ingredients, and your body will treat them as “Alien” and may lead to long term health issues. Here are just a few to avoid;

  • Corn Syrup

  • Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil

  • Cottonseed Oil

  • High Fructose Corn Syrup

  • Sodium Caseinate (a milk derivative)

  • Dipotassium Phosphate

  • Sugar

  • Mono and Diglycerides

  • Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate

  • Artificial Flavor s and colors (They don’t even list what goes into these)!

There are so many good options out there with clean labels that taste amazing, our favorites are plant based options. Bobby Parrish does a great round up below saying “What you want to look for are ones with low sugar, because there are a lot of sugar that sneak into these things and ones that use real ingredients”.
